Brownsville Senior Center
The Brownsville Senior Center opened December 12, 2024 at the Brownsville Community Resource Center. You will find the center towards the back of the entrance with a flashing open sign.
The center was opened as a way to meet the needs of Brownsville Seniors. They are open Monday-Friday from 8AM to 2PM with a selection of activities being offered.
Activities Available
The expressive arts
- improves quality of life

- improves symptoms of mental health issues including trauma and depression
- assist with pain management
- facilitates interactions with caregivers
- helps with problem-solving skills. concentration, and memory
Music is shown to have a strong effect on the brain's ability to reorganize and rewire it's connections. These changes can improve thinking and moving, and improve recovery after brain injuries.
Singing trains and strengthens muscles associated with breathing and talking.
Dramatic Arts are things like writing, acting, and storytelling.
These activities help with working memory, attention, and cognitive control. Being able to share one's personal story can lead to improvement in depression and anxiety, boost memory, reduce symptoms of patients with cancer, improve health after a heart attack, improve happiness, and lead to behavioral changes.
