Kendra Stine, MPH, M.S
Biography
Ms. Kendra Stine is a Research Associate III at the Memory and Aging Center (MAC) at the University of Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Medicine. She received a B.S. and M.S. degree in Physical Education from Eastern New Mexico University. As a graduate student at ENMU, she developed wellness programs for faculty and staff. Later, she returned to graduate school and received a Master of Public Health degree in Health Promotion and Policy, from the University of Missouri. She has been working on a doctoral degree in Gerontology and was confirmed as a PhD candidate at Concordia University in Chicago. Her work efforts at the MAC focus on the community in outreach, engagement, research, and education. She is an active volunteer in the community and value the benefits of community engagement for all people, especially as we age. As it is through our lived experiences reflected in our health that influences the aging process. She is a co-founder and active member of the Senior Advocacy Coalition, which partners with many entities and individuals to make Brownsville and the RGV more age friendly. In all of this, she continues to promote healthy living, community engagement, and service.
Her research interests are focused on the aging population in healthy aging, Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, community engagement, women’s health, family systems, social support, cognitive health, health promotion, decision making, and the generational and cultural influences and/or protective factors associated with aging.
